Tutorial • Cookie with Chocolate Print

This simple sugar cookie recipe is less buttery but it retains the shape very well and the surface doesn't brown much, making it ideal for chocolate print! And the chocolate prints set into the cookie, so there's no worries of them melting and sticking together when you pack/stack them! :)

Ingredients:
Sugar Cookie
120gm Cake Flour
50gm Powdered Sugar
50gm Unsalted Butter (soften at room temp)
1 Egg Yolk
1/2tsp Vanilla Essence

Chocolate Print
2 TBS Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips, melted.

Method:
•Cream butter and powdered sugar in a mixing bowl, until sugar dissolved and colour turn lighter shade.
•Add egg yolk and vanilla essence, mix well.
•Sieve cake flour into the mixing bowl, mix to a
dough.
•Wrap dough in cling wrap and flatten to 4-5mm with a rolling pin. Leave in the fridge until harden, at least 30mins.
•Print/hand draw your preferred design for chocolate print.
I am doing a Hello Kitty design here.
Do print/draw a mirror image, ie: the bow on the left instead of right. And the image size must be smaller than the cookie cutter used.
•Fill piping bag with melted chocolate and prepare a few small pieces of baking paper.
•Place baking paper on design image, trace along the outline with melted chocolate.
•Remove dough from fridge, use cookie cutter to press out desired shapes. Place cookie shapes on a piece of baking paper. Transfer chocolate image by placing it on top of the dough. Chocolate side down. Repeat for all the cookies.

•Leave in fridge to harden or in the freezer for about 15-20mins.
•Once chocolate harden on cookie dough, the baking paper can be easily removed.
•Preheat oven at 180degC, bake cookies for about 15mins.

⚠️Oven temperature and time may vary, please adjust accordingly.
