Travel • Hotel Okura and Ikspiari Mall (Tokyo Nov 2016)

I booked a 3N stay at Hotel Okura Tokyo Bay on Expedia as I wanted easy access to Disney Resorts. The initial plan was to visit both Disneyland and DisneySea but I decided to skip DisneySea while planning our itinerary and went for Mother Farm instead.

Okura Tokyo Bay's room are generally bigger as compared to other hotels in Japan. Even the bathrooms are huge, complete with a bathtub & separate standing shower.
Initially, the staff could not honor my Expedia booking of "2 big beds" and offered us a room with 4 single beds instead. My concern was Mini K rolling off the single bed as he usually co-sleep with us. After understanding my concern, the staff agreed to push 2 of the single beds together to form a big bed and even offered to set up bed rails as extra safety precaution! Brownie Points awarded! They were accommodating although they were not able to communicate very well in English.

It was also a family-friendly hotel, there were children amenities like bedroom slippers, children toothbrushes and plastic mugs provided in the room. Bed safety rails can be set up on request as mentioned above. There was a kids corner at the lobby too and a small mini mart that was well stocked.

I must mention how much I loved this door separating the bathroom/pantry area and the bedroom!

Because our kids usually sleep earlier than us and with this door, the dad could catch up with his daily news or simply R&R with his ocha outside the bathroom without disturbing the kids' Zzzz! Ownself imagine it's a suite 😅😅 Awesome!
Free shuttle bus service was available too, it brings guests to and fro Bayside station or otherwise it's just a 2mins walk to Bayside station which was right opposite this hotel!
The cute lil shuttle bus :D
Hotel Okura's right across from Bayside Station
All the other official hotels within the resort provided shuttle bus service too but they are situated further from Bayside Station. Disney Resort monorail goes in 1 direction and runs every 4-6mins. It's 1-3 stops to reach Disneyland/DisneySea, so this saved us lots of traveling time as compared to staying downtown. We bought a 3-day monorail ride pass from the hotel and it allowed us unlimited rides on the monorail.
3 Day Pass, can be bought from hotel concierge.
Inside the monorail,

If you need a late dinner after a long day at the theme park or need to grab some breakfast for the next day, there's a shopping mall, Ikspiari Mall. It's connected to Resort Gateway Station which was also beside JR Maihama station. Some parts of the mall reminded me of Premium Outlets aka Factory Outlets and also eluded a Greek feel!

The street level of the mall was not sheltered, so it gets pretty cold after sunset. We were mostly going around the shops on level 1F as we only went to the mall after sun set in search of dinner hence I can't comment on the retail experience. There were lots of F&B choices, a food court, bookshop and supermarket which opened till 11pm!
Supermarket opposite the Food Court,
Both opens til late.
Drinks, Desserts, Chips, Bakery...
You can get everything you need!
So many types of bentos!
You can buy and heat up in microwave (near cashier) for in-room supper :D
These were what we ate at the food court...
Grilled pork rice!!!! Soooooo Gooood :D
Gindaco Takoyaki
(Near the foodcourt)
Kiddy meal: Omurice for Mini K
Comfort food! A bowl of hot soupy beef udon warms the tummy.
Grilled pork rice again! So good, we had to have it one more time :D
Ordered grilled beef rice too but not as good as the porky one.
It looked like a mess but this was so delish,
Lil K kept requesting for yakisoba during the trip after having had this!
Bought BAKE Cheese Tart for in-room breakfast before Disneyland fun!
Ordered the chicken rice for Mini K but the rice was undercooked & chicken was chiller-cold!
Don't waste your calories on this even if you're missing SG food! >.<
